Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be in the program?
Adults 18 years of age and older can enroll. If you are on probation, we will need to contact your probation officer. Violent offenders cannot be in the program. You must have a phone or regular access to a telephone so you and your tutor can stay in touch.

How much does it cost to be in the program?
The program is free after a $20 registration fee is paid.

How long will it take to get a tutor?
It may take as much as two months to find a tutor. Classes are available while you wait.

Do I have to take a written test to be in the program?
Written tests are not required for all students, but they help us find the right tutor and books to help you learn. Most students do take a simple test or assessment. All students meet with an assessment specialist before they begin tutoring.
