 Who We Are
The Adult Literacy League is the largest nationally-accredited literacy organization in Florida and one of the most highly regarded in the nation. A winner of both the Neighborhood Builder Award from Bank of America and the "Excellence in Education" award from the state literacy coalition, the League has provided the highest quality of service in the Central Florida community for 43 years. During that time, we have expanded our services to meet the literacy needs of the community so that thousands of our friends and neighbors are now able to be self-sufficient workers, fully participating citizens, and more effective parents.

 Outstanding Services Provided

• Provide free tutoring and instruction classes for adult learners in basic reading, writing, English language literacy, spelling, writing, conversation, computers and math

• Provide quality training for volunteer literacy tutors statewide

• Provide Read to Me! Book Club with our preschool partners

• Provide access to technology for adult learners

• Provide literacy information and support to the community as a whole, and to other literacy providers in the region

• Provide collaboration, consultation, assessment, and referral for educational services in the broader network

 Volunteer Opportunities

• Train as a literacy tutor and work one-to-one with an adult learner

• Provide volunteer support for administrative and program services in the office

• After acquiring tutoring experience, serve as a student intake/assessment volunteer, a tutor trainer, or a tutor support mentor

• Serve on a standing committee—either organizational or program

• Help with our annual special events—ex. Reading between the Wines

• Serve on the Board of Directors at the invitation of the board development committee
