Karlye Martorelli

Board Member, Heart of Florida United Way

Karlye is a Corporate Engagement Manager at Heart of Florida United Way. She holds an Executive MBA degree from Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She also acquired a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership. Karlye graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. She worked with autistic children using Behavior Modification Therapy during her college years, and later worked as a tutor for children with special needs, such as cerebral palsy. Karlye also volunteered as guardian for a child in a local foster program until the child was adopted and has two daughters and two stepsons of her own.

Prior to working for HFUW, Karlye owned and managed businesses in the restaurant and retail industries for 20 years. She then made a conscious decision to use her time in graduate school to shift from corporate work to more purposeful, impactful work to uplift the Central Florida community.

Karlye is a Florida native and grew up in Orlando, making it her home since 1980. She is multi-lingual and speaks English, Spanish, and Italian. Karlye completed her senior year of high school as an exchange student in the Basque region of Spain and understands firsthand what it feels like to live in a foreign country and not be able to speak, read, and write in the country’s native language. She believes it is imperative to one’s success to have the support and education to learn to speak, read, and write, and therefore feels personally connected to the mission of ALL.
